I believe that customization is key and no two clients are alike. My mission is to provide each client with a fully customized and personal financial plan to help them pursue their short and long-term needs, goals, and passions. 

Philosophy

I begin by identifying each client’s financial goals, wants, needs, and ambitions. I obtain information on their family dynamics, financial behaviors, situation, and risk tolerance. Once I understand what the client is trying to achieve and become knowledgeable about their background (current investments, financial background, employment, assets, family members, etc.), I construct a personalized financial plan aligned with their specific needs and objectives.

Personal & Career History

Upon graduation from WVU in 2013, I was hired by SEI Investment Management where they sponsored me for my Series 7 and 63 licenses. While at SEI, I learned the customer service and investor relations side of finance. After working for SEI for a year, I transitioned my career from broad finance to financial planning and investments at Berkshire Investment Group. I hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER℠, CFP® designation as well as the Accredited Asset Management Specialist℠, AAMS® designation. In addition, I have my Life and Health Insurance License to sell insurance and annuities.

Philosophy

I come from a generation that placed great emphasis on doing the job right. Consequently, I take pride in fulfilling my fiduciary commitment to my clients. I cannot accomplish this mission without truly knowing my clients and securing their trust.

Personal & Career History

Upon graduating from Bloomsburg University in 1973 with a teaching degree, I began my career as an economics and history teacher for the Fleetwood School District. Four years later, I accepted a position at Albright College as Associate Dean of Students before joining Metropolitan Edison Company as a manager in their Operations Training division.

In 1984, I had an opportunity to put my experience and love of teaching to work as an investment advisor at E. F. Hutton, which was later acquired by Dean Witter. I found that working one-on-one to educate clients on investment principles and their investment strategies was not only fulfilling, but also extremely rewarding as I helped clients progress toward their unique goals. I had an opportunity to move to Dean Witter in 1988, when E.F. Hutton was acquired by Shearson Lehman Brothers, to further expand my practice helping individuals, families, and business owners plan for the futures they desired. Several years later, in 1991, I founded Berkshire Investment Group, an independent, boutique wealth management firm to fulfill the needs of a growing number of clients seeking financial advice and strategies.

Personal & Career History

I joined the investment firm of Kidder Peabody in 1987. One year later our entire office moved to Shearson Lehman Hutton, later named Smith Barney. Wanting to provide more personal and customized investment services for my clients, I helped form Berkshire Capital Management in 1995, which was renamed Berkshire Investment Group in 2009. I received my Registered Principal’s qualification in 1998 which I hold through LPL Financial and my Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM (CRPC®) designation from the College of Financial Planning in 2010. I am past president of the Muhlenberg Rotary Club, past President of the Kutztown University Alumni Association, and a prior member of the Muhlenberg Township Parks and Recreation Board, Family Promise of Berks County, and other volunteer organizations in the community.

As such, my focus is directed at building and preserving client wealth, while staying committed to the fundamentals of investing. Working to understand the long-term goals, I help guide clients through the complexities of today’s financial markets. 

Objectives

My investment advice is centered on the following four principals:

  1. Review and analyze your current financial situation.
  2. Draw on the intellectual strength and independent research of LPL Financial to create a unique investment solution for each client.
  3. Implement a customized strategy to address your financial needs.
  4. Review and evaluate your portfolio on a regular basis to ensure each client’s goals are addressed in current market conditions. 

Philosophy

My investment philosophy is centered on the goals of my clients. Working with each client individually I strive to develop an investment strategy based on those goals considering assets, experience and risk tolerance.

Personal

My education and business background have enabled me to transition from the Finance Department at the New Zealand Embassy, through managing a team involved in the Commodities/Chemical businesses, to becoming a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley in 2005. This experience combined with the knowledge gained through the turbulent markets of 2008/2009 has given me a perspective not often found in a Financial Advisor.

A native of Wellington, New Zealand, I moved to Washington, DC in 1986 and became a United States citizen in 2006 after moving to Reading, Pennsylvania in 1994. I served on the board of the Wyomissing Area Education Foundation as well as the Wyomissing Public Library, while also currently active in the Reading Area Networking Group. My interests include the outdoors, golf, and spending time with my three daughters.
